As engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders, they not only contribute technically but also promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring the tech workforce reflects its diverse user base. Their efforts are enhancing innovation and fostering social change by opening doors for other underrepresented groups.
"Elevate and Inspire: No Ceiling on Our Youth's Future"?
Miles Johnson, a 2024 recipient of the Trailblazer Scholarship Award graduated from the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy. He has accepted admissions to Clark Atlanta University as a freshman with a major in Dual Degree Engineering. Miles graced the stage at this year's 60th Trailblazer Award Luncheon, captivating the audience with his eloquent speech about the youth of tomorrow.
Krista Bourne has had a significant impact on community services through her leadership roles. She is the former Chief Operating Officer of Verizon Consumer Group and has been involved with organizations such as the Technology & Entrepreneurship Center of Houston and the Houston Area Women’s Center1. Her work has focused on leadership, diversity, and parenthood, and she has shared her insights and experiences through speaking engagements, including the Afrotech Conference 2. Krista Bourne’s journey from starting as a 19-year-old mother without a college degree to becoming a top executive is truly inspiring, and she continues to influence others by emphasizing skill development, calendar discipline, controlling the narrative, and data literacy 2.
